Yesterday I shared a positive story of the good which has come out of displacement and pain for Syrian refugees. Are you okay with another story with a happier outcome?
Early in the selfish occupation of the city of Ottawa several louts who have warped notions of personal freedom invaded the soup kitchen of the Shepherds of Good Hope, demanding food and refusing to wear masks. It was a tough day for the volunteers and the clients/guests because of the harrassment.
After the story was shared through the media Canadians responded with financial support and we were among the, figuring that we could make a modest contribution even though we give to meal ministries in our area. A couple of days ago Shepherds of Good Hope shared this:
Shepherds of Good Hope is so grateful to the more than 13,000 people who donated to us over the past 2 weeks. As a result of your generosity, we have raised approximately $750,000!
“Thanks to this incredible unanticipated support, we can accelerate our efforts to end homelessness in our city by building more housing.”
It's not as though what transpired was good in itself, and it was hardly an answer to prayer. Yet this toxic behaviour has been transformed. God bless Shepherds of Good Hope in their ongoing ministry.

Keep those good stories coming, David. I think we all could use them these days.
I'll attempt to reflect on the good news in the midst of the discouraging stuff Roger. Unfortunately, nothing hopeful for either the Steelers or Canadiens these days.
