What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works? Surely that faith cannot save, can it? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
James 2: 1--17 NRSVue
The Office was a hugely popular situation comedy, first the British version, then in North America. A number of the American actors have gone on to further success on small and large screens. I don't think I ever watched a full episode of the show but I know people who loved it. I've been intrigued by Rainn Wilson who has gone on to write quirkily (no surprise) and insightfully about religion. He has been a critic in some respects but also takes faith and spirituality seriously enough to want the narrative to change. In light of the turmoil around the tragic death of Charlie Kirk, a right-wing social commentator and Christian this post is powerful.
I'll leave it at this.
