Visualizing Creation Time

The Web of Life -- Then Let Us Sing #2

Yesterday the Trenton United Church congregation emerged from its summer burrow in the middle auditorium to resume worship in the sanctuary. Several folk have been at work creating lovely new banners and antipendia reflecting the Creation Time theme and with the signature orange colour. Presumably they will be in place until October 4, the Feast of St. Francis and the conclusion of Creation Time.

These are a visual reminder that lots of congregations have caught on to the idea that the five weeks beginning with the September 1, World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. What we see and what we sing during our time of worship are as important as the scripture and sermons we hear.

There is also a tree on a sanctuary wall with leaves representing the money contributed by members to plant a Little Forest, in conjunction with Trent Valley Conservation Authority, as well as a tree on the church property marking the 100th anniversary of the United Church. The total is now well over the goal of a thousand dollars.

Well done to those who are taking up the challenge of "living with respect in Creation" wherever they might be as a community of Christian faith.
