Finally!

Suddenly the natural world around us is stirring with many signs of life. At Second Marsh the birds are returning: kingfishers, herons, red-winged blackbirds, and many more. The other day I saw a small orange butterfly, the first of this year.

The creatures in and around the water are active as well. The fish are carp, I think, and were thrashing around near the edge of the marsh. The frog? One of hundreds in an astonishing, raucous, creaking symphony of life in another spot. They all quieted down when I approached them but resumed when I stood still for a while.

I love that the resurgence of life around us corresponds with Easter this year. My spirit lifts with these signs of renewal and they prepare me for the resurrection promise in Christ.

What are you seeing that says Spring has sprung? Deb, I hope you have something you can report from Saskatchewan!

Our daughter just went to the GoodYear dam in Bowmanville with her class, for a science discussion. They are doing electricity.... I asked her what she saw and she said that the fish were back and swimming around. I thought it was interesting that she was looking for this.

I take a country road to work every day, and daily I am seeing new signs of life. The roadside is getting greener and I've seen yellow flowers springing up in the woods. I think they are a type of marsh marigold. I love the drive at this time of year!

Yes, I have something to report. The sun is shining and the snow is finally melting. I don't think we've reached double digits yet. Today though, it is cold and we are expecting snow flurries. Go figure. We are seeing the birds come back. We saw a robin a couple of days ago.

Our concern now is flooding. We had so much snow and it is melting so fast, that the fields are looking like lakes and rivers. Two days ago, the highway was washed out and there are many highways closed due to flooding.

I am looking forward to the day I can go out without a jacket and put my hands in the soil.

I know spring is here when the Maple Leafs are yet again playing golf, not hockey.

It is a wonderful time of year, and you can feel everyone's mood improving.

I have gone to the Second Marsh a couple of times, but just seem to see mosquitoes.

It is nice to wake up to the sound of birds, not snowblowers!

Spring Peepers are making a wonderful chorus every evening, colts foot is blooming in the ditches, bluebirds are back. Spring is wonderful.

I see signs of spring in the garden... but only briefly. The pup is happy to see the green grass growing and all the perennials too... he sees it all as food for him!

I started seeing signs of spring just before March Break - the change in time to longer days, looking for and sighting the first robins, and the return of songbirds. Now I am hearing about the birth of kittens and calves, bursting forth of tulips, daffodils, crocuses, the greening and development of tree buds, the leaf bags on lined up on garbage day, and the increased impatience as one waits to start digging the flower beds and gardens. What a wonderful and delightfultime of year! 'God is so good' to quote an old children's SS song.

Marsh marigolds. Spring Peepers. The sound of birds. Critters being born. Such great indicators of Spring!I love the sound of the Peepers.

And of course the emergence of plants in the garden. The garlic we planted last Fall is sprouting up.

We will pray that Spring comes soon to Saskatchewan, and that you don't need an ark Deb. And Ian, we trust that you were eventually paroled.
