Supporting Shepherds of Good Hope

Shepherds of Good Hope in Ottawa

Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing.

1 Peter 3:8-9

When I read the New Testament I see that Jesus accepted louts and thugs and other sinners and I'm counting on his grace for me as well, with all my foibles and failings. Sometimes its so annoying to find out that the gospel is for everyone.

Just the same, I share the public outrage about those who marauded around Ottawa as part of the Freedumb Rally (someone else's quip) showing total disrespect of solemn memorials, shop-owners, and even a meal ministry for those who are homeless and on the margins of society called Shepherds of Good Hope. Maskless protesters entered the ministry's premises ignoring the rules and demanding food. It was a difficult time for the staff who were working on Saturday who assume that it's "all about them" - those who are in need - rather than "all about us", which seems to be the outlook of a lot of the rally participants.

The unexpected outcome of this nonsense is that Canadians have given thousands of dollars to the Shepherds of Good Hope ministry as a rebuttal to this selfishness. We made a small contribution ourselves, even though we support two meal ministries and a food bank in our area. Rather than responding to  evil with evil, we can repay with a blessing.  https://www.sghottawa.com/

Now, the bogus Freedom Convoy/Rally has received more than 6 million dollars in donations, which is an abomination in my eyes. Perhaps they will make a generous donation to the Shepherds of Good Hope... no, I won't hold my breath...
