To Know the Dark

 

I'm a big fan of the evocative icons created by Kelly Latimore and the varied writings of Wendell Berry. This tweet with an image and a poem leading us from Ash Wednesday, to Christ in the Wilderness on the first Sunday of Lent, to the Garden of Gethsemane as Holy Week concludes really speak to me. 

To go in the dark

 with a light 

is to know the light. 

To know the dark, 

go dark. 

 Go without sight, 

and find that the dark, 

too, 

blooms and sings, 

and is traveled by dark feet 

and dark wings.
