Go Now in Peace, Never be Afraid

Go Now In Peace Don Besig, Nancy Price

Go now in peace, never be afraid

God will go with you each hour of every day

Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true

Know God will guide you in all you do

Go now in love and show you believe

Reach out to others so all the world can see

God will be there around you and above

Go now in peace, in faith, and in love A - men. A - men. A - men.

Last Sunday we worshipped al fresco with the Trenton UC family of faith in a park along the Bay of Quinte. We had the benefit of a large shelter but we didn't need it despite the forecast of rain all day. A baptism was part of the service and I had visions of a pre-wash and rinse as we made our way to the shelter.

The message was thoughtful, while the baptism of a child whose parents have been forced by COVID to wait more than a year was meaningful. I had an emotional moment when we sang the Sending Forth which you see above. I like this slightly altered version which is more inclusive and less...vertical.

It was the "never be afraid" phrase that stirred me because it was an important encouragement, given the past 16 months. And life does go on, babies are born and baptized, congregations come together, thanks be to God.

Of course, I've been living with this "ear worm" for the past week, but it could be a lot worse.
